John Curry

JOHN CURRY, the founder of Smartpill, has been a part of the Los Angeles art and design community for over 15 years. He has worked as an Art Director and Designer in publishing (Bikini/Raygun, Movieline, Option and the LA Weekly), created major branding campaigns (Disney, Fox, MTV, House of Blues and Reconnecting America) and worked on numerous projects for a wide variety of Los Angeles media, advertising and entertainment companies (Warner Brothers, Universal, Disney, Discovery Channel, Fox, Lexus, Ford, Toyota and many more)

He has taught classes in design and typography at the Art Center School of Design and most recently garnered an Art Director of the Year Award from the LA Press Club and a Website of the Year Award from Association of Alternative Newsweeklies for his work at the LA Weekly and the Charter Award from the Congress of New Urbanism for his book design for Street Smart: Streetcars and Cities in the 21st Century.

John works in the non-profit world for organizations such as Smart Growth For America and Subway to the Sea as well as the much respected public transit advocates, Reconnecting America, for whom he has designed numerous books, as well as their logo and website.

His skill set includes Art Direction and Design, Production, Copywriting and Strategic Messaging in an array of mediums including Publishing and Print Design, Packaging, Marketing, Brand Identity and Motion Graphics. John also has considerable management and staffing skills and has led and inspired large teams to produce the highest quality projects and products possible.
